Beer Born on a Bike

Posted on Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Everyone knows Fat Tire. It’s a staple of any mountain town liquor store inventory. But in the interest of consumer savvy, next time you pick up a sixer of any New Belgium brew, you’ll know more about what you are getting.

In 1989, 32-year old Jeff Lebesch rode his mountain bike through Europe in search of great beers and great ingredients. He returned to Fort Collins and started making beers in his basement … the first of which was a little beer called Fat Tire. Not bad for a first try. Enjoy this little flick.
